This morning I did a repair that highlights the importance of doing it right the first time. The cause of the leak is circled in the first picture. The shingle wasn’t properly inserted under the valley leaving an invitation for all the water coming down the valley to slip right in.

•Got all the rotten decking replaced and dried in.
•Storm guard (ice and water shield) along the valley
• 30yr Timberline Natural Shadow shingles installed

🚨Lesson from this project: never install ice and water shield over old felt. For this low-slope roof, we stripped the old layer, laid Storm Guard directly on the deck, and finished with shingles. Proper layering protects against leaks and moisture longer.
